Even #webdav is supported all including its acl system. @davx5app works instant but as stated otherwise my #iphone from which I want to migrate does not connect. So plan B is to connect #davx5 to icloud and migrate that way. Am stil wondering what I'm doing wrong nevertheless

I'm looking for a way to #backup my calendars and contacts (via #CalDAV and #CardDAV), but `vdirsyncer` is kind of a pain when a calendar or address book is added/removed and requires tedious manual intervention each time.

Is there a simpler/better tool for automated backups?

For reasons that may be affected by Google Calendar dropping a lot of holidays and such recently, I'm looking for a good #CalDAV #Android app that, ideally, has as little friction as possible (for spousal acceptance factor). I don't really care about #WebDAV support, but #CardDAV would be a nice bonus. Cross-syncing may be a good thing, at least pulling from Google. Play Store or F-Droid, and I'm not sure I care about a 1 time purchase with the amount of Play Store credit I'm not using.

Do you know of a good open source app or program that can be used to edit the address book (in common export formats, directly in Nextcloud or on Windows, Android ... via #CardDAV )?
Clean up duplicates, formats etc., batch processing for group assignments etc.?

WebDAV began in 1996 when Jim Whitehead worked with the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to host two meetings to discuss the problem of distributed authoring on the World Wide Web with interested people. Tim Berners-Lee's original vision of the Web involved a medium for both reading and writing. In fact, Berners-Lee's first web browser, called WorldWideWeb, could both view and edit web pages; but, as the Web grew, it became a read-only medium for most users. Whitehead and other like-minded people wanted to transcend that limitation.

Seit "kurzer" Zeit unterstützt das Thunderbird Adressbuch ja die Synchronisation mit CardDAV. Ich habe als CardDAV Server meine Nextcloud Instanz eingegeben. Das Herunterladen der Kontakte funktioniert, aber wenn ich in Thunderbird Kontakte ändere, werden diese nicht mehr zum Server Synchronisiert. Kennt jemand das Problem?

I'm looking to replace #nextcloud with something different. I use it for files, #caldav, and #carddav. I don't need a single solution for all 3, but recommendations for:

1. Files replacement (seafile, etc)
2. CardDAV and/or
3. CalDav

All 3 solutions can be separate and FOSS. Also, they must be containerized. Thanks!

Is there any self-hostable all-in-one DAV server that isn't shit and is easy to get up and running?

I tried Radicale, and while it was very easy to setup, it only has CardDAV and CalDAV, and seemingly has many hiccups, especially as I use cloudflared (Cloudflare Tunnel) from my Pi 5 to a custom subdomain, which results in a bad gateway.

I tried Sabre/DAV but it was miserable to try and set up especially as I have a limited knowledge of PHP and I'd rather not bother with that.

I just found out that the @ietf recently published JSContact yet another specification for storing contact data.

It’s super interesting, though, and I am falling down the rabbit hole of all the links and related information about this.

One of the authors is Mario Loffredo, “First Technologist” of the Informatics and Telematics section of the Italian National Counsel for Research (CNR).

It’s the first time I find an Italian in public sector research authoring a spec!

I'd like to subscribe to a #VPS to #selfhost my #email (including calendar and contacts with #caldav and #carddav), #mastodon instance and potentially #matrix.

I use a #Synology but I don't find the #docker setup convenient, and I don't find it suitable for for (what I consider) high availability services.

What would be your recommendations?

I've added my #NextCloud as #CardDAV server to my macOS contacts app. Copied all my contact cards into the new account and expected them to show up in NextCloud Web interface. But they don't. Anyone got an idea how I'd trigger syncing from Contacts.app to the server?

Can anyone recommend a contact directory that I can #selfhost on an old Raspberry Pi (2b)?

It should have a web ui and I should be able to sync my contacts on Android.

Is #carddav the preferred protocol for this?

Dank nativer #CalDAV Unterstützung in #Thunderbird ist es ja super einfach #Nextcloud-#Kalender zu verbinden. Grade mal gemacht und damit auf dem PC, den ich zwar kaum noch nutze, etwas unabhängiger von G o og le gemacht. #CardDAV mache ich dann auch noch für die Kontakte in der Nextcloud. Mit appspezifischem Passwort versteht sich. Ist sicherer!

Holy smokes, I have Nextcloud running. I found ONLYOFFICE documentation that uses nextcloud:fpm I wasn't aware of, and it runs.

The office integration is broken, but I can live without that, this should be enough for now. I can leave the OwnCloud Infinite Scale dormant until it has calendar and contacts support. (Don't have the time to help, unfortunately.)
