Check out how this #waterfall changes across the seasons. I have hiked this trail in each season of the year and it is a different experience each time! Here are pics of the same waterfall in Nov (2024), Feb (2025), and April (2025). It is completely buried with snow/ice in the deepest part of winter in February. By April, it is part winter, part spring. #WaterfallWednesday #hiking

September 15, 1983: When I finally attained that summit, I checked my watch and discovered that it was almost 9:00. I had consumed two hours in hiking two-and-a-half miles. At the rate I had been covering ground the past couple of days, Katahdin was beginning to once more achieve the status of fairy tale.

Beneath a bright, almost cloudless light blue sky we are looking out at a scene bathed in bright sunshine. We are standing atop a lofty mountain covered with light gray rock outcrops and boulders, stunted spruce and fir and a leafy alpine plant that has turned red with the autumn. The rocks are covered with pale green and darker green lichen. The crest descends to a low sag also covered with rock outcrops and alpine vegetation, then climbs to another peak of our mountain. That peak is more wooded, although there are open areas along the top and sides. The rest of the mountainsides are heavily wooded. There is another lofty mountain beyond this peak to the right. Its face is also heavily wooded but has extensive open rock cliffs. Other ranges cascade towards the horizon.

Black Head for #seawednesday

We're in the Burren in Co. Clare again. It's a very special place. It is the only place in the world where Artic/Alpine and Mediterranean/Subtropical plants grow side by side. This is due to the unique karst landscape and its microclimate. It the home to about 1100 plant species out of the 1400 species in the whole of Ireland. There are also two butterflies that live there - The Pearl-Bordered Fritillary and the Brown Hairstreak which are not found anywhere else in Ireland. 🦋 Oh! There's also a really cute fox that my Dad has basically adopted. 🦊 😂

Autumn at the Ahornboden
Although I'm very busy editing my Madeira photos at the moment, I mustn't forget that autumn lets shine Tyrol's landscapes in the most beautiful colors right now. And this is happening right in front of my doorstep.
So I took the chance to go to the Großer Ahornboden, wich is one of the most beautiful places to visit in autumn. Only for a few days the maple trees show their intense yellow color. This time I just got it right.
