Finally, I managed to resolve my package manager issues with #termux and started coding under #android
#emacs, #cmake, and C++ compiler are working.
Ready for some #programming exercises while I am on the road.

On a similar note, I am trying to share a youtube link from my phone to #newpipe on my Android TV box. I'm currently copying it to the clipboard, sending it with #KDEConnect, running an app on the box to refresh the clipboard (yes a bit weird), and finally pasting it.
Maybe #Termux on both ends could help.
Is there any way to share an image to a shell script from within Android, or even just copy the full path of a file with an Android?
The thing is I'm using Image Toolbox to perform my #LossyPNG conversions on the go, but I find that #imagemagick convert actually does a far better job at choosing colors than Image Toolbox does.
There just isn't a convenient way (that I've found so far) to grab the full path and filename of an image from the gallery and then share that with a shell script running in #Termux.
Does anyone know of a #text #editor, which runs in a #Linux #terminal, and uses only the characters: lowercase a-z, 0-9, comma, and period, in commands?
I want such an editor to ease my life on #Termux in Android, because these characters are the only ones immediately accessible on a standard Samsung keyboard, without the use of symbol keys.
And no, #vim doesn't fit the bill, because it needs Esc, ":" and "$"; #emacs and #nano are out because of the Ctrl and Alt keys, conspicously absent from mobile keyboards.
I was looking for an #IDE on #Android to do some smaller #programming tasks when I have only my tablet with me.
I tried with #Termux, but their package manager is really bad and failed to install something I needed.
I shied away from #GitHub #Codespaces, but after that bad experience, I gave it a try, and it seems to do what I want.
I wrote down some ideas on #how-to use #termux on my #gemlog

@spacelizard @KathyReid Is there any advantage of using this over #termux? Asking as a happy long time user of termux (including ssh but also #Emacs on a mobile with keyboard :-)).
@spacelizard
500 MB for a Terminal App? Ok, #termux (https://f-droid.org/de/packages/com.termux/) is 109 MB but still...

How to start using the new #Linux #terminal on your #Android device. #Google just added a powerful new feature to Android: The Linux terminal. It's easier than you think to use and it unlocks a whole new level of control.

Well, the linux terminal is already existing ; there is an app available since many years in #fdroid store : #termux

Proton bridge for #termux is working really nicely.
Like proton on android wasnt bad, but somehow using Thunderbird is just more satisfying.

What is this? Is it a VM? Nope. It's my #tablet with #termux on #android. It seems like it would be VERY useful. Termux is just fucking amazing. It's like having two tablets. I can plug it into the library, store a VNC client on it, plug it into a public computer, connect over VNC. *BHAM* portable dev environment! :D
