As someone who was in the social web room at #fosdem I can vouch that seeing @cwebber present is an unforgettable event so if you are in Berlin, you should not miss this: https://social.coop/@cwebber/114476431709199153

I admit it's been *a while* but the @hut23 team finally got around to publishing our suggestions for #FOSDEM25 presentations we especially enjoyed.
All of these were recorded and are well worth the time to watch.
There were so many great talks at #FOSDEM and so many we inevitably missed. Please share your own suggestions if you have them.

My second #fosdem talk "Syd+Youki=Syd-OCI: Introduction to a Secure Container Runtime for Linux" is now online: https://fosdem.org/2025/schedule/event/fosdem-2025-4920-syd-youki-syd-oci-introduction-to-a-secure-container-runtime-for-linux/ #exherbo #linux #security
Hi @gumnos,
it's even possible to #federate by dropping one file on a shared #webhost (without #root #privileges) using @aSeppoToTry. #Fosdem presentation: https://mro.name/offdem/slides.pdf
Q1 was BUSY for us at AlmaLinux, and we're just now catching our breath!
We attended FIVE events, presenting at almost all of them.
Check out highlights from each and see how you can help staff our booths for events just like these! https://almalinux.org/blog/2025-04-29-q1-events/

Ever wondered how FOSDEM streams and records hundreds of sessions seamlessly? In this session, Vasil Kolev, Gerry Demaret, and Mark Van den Borre reveal the FOSDEM Video Box — the open-source system behind their large-scale event streaming. Learn about its architecture, tools, and how you can apply these lessons to your own events at #FOSSASIASummit2025

Regarding the mentioned #FOSDEM talk: @heinleinsupport sadly didn’t publish the Ansible roles as promised during the talk. They were briefly at https://gitlab.opencode.de/heinlein, then vanished without comment. Sad, as the talk lacks sense without them.
New episode of #TalkingPostgres #podcast
Bruce Momjian, #PostgreSQL core team member, joined me on Ep26 to talk about open source leadership—with rabbitholes on servant leadership, the art of public speaking, the power of gratitude, & bow ties
Boosts appreciated to help more people discover the podcast

Since 25 years, there is a big conference on Open Source and Free Software in Europe that couldn't share the list of participants with authorities, even if they wanted to. Because there is no registration, no tickets, no waiting list. Why I love #FOSDEM, reason #5409
Er loopt ook een project met @publicspaces en @waag en @SURF om peertube servers te gebruiken.
Kijk bijvoorbeeld naar de video over @stalwartlabs op de @fediversity server gemaakt op #FOSDEM
If you want to know more they did a talk at #FOSDEM 2024

There is a video from #FOSDEM where the representatives of ZenDis (German Center for Digital Sovereignty) and DINUM (French Interministerial Digital Directorate)
talk about the project.

Alexander Smolianitski, the head of OS products at ZenDis, also participated in two other sessions where he presented the software developed on the German side:

No, it's actually b/c I needed a place to campaign for the #OpenSource Initiative elections and & bloggjng to do it wasn't interactive enough.
I am not sure what I'll do with this account after the #OSI situation is addressed.
As you may recall, @zacchiro, in that conversation at #FOSDEM that you mention, I pointed out that I do think microblogging is addictive and often pushes people toward baser form of discourse.
I will write more about this after OSI stuff reaches safe background level.
If my file format adventures are interesting to so many people, I should prepare a #FOSDEM talk about it, I guess?
Rein ins Hotel. Erster Mensch den ich sehe, #fosdem Shirt an. Das Wochenende kann ja heiter werden.
@nextcloud We’re ready to help you with #LiberateYourTranslations, and growing your localization community. That’s what we do, with care. We have experience and use cases with numerous migrations from TF to #Weblate. Many of #Nextcloud translators use Weblate with other projects already. You’re welcome
Do you know which sticker was the most popular with Nextcloud users this #FOSDEM? @Karlitschek also liked them, and @jospoortvliet took many of them cc @jibec @ButterflyOfFire @rakekniven
* Gerry (#FOSDEM staff friend) and myself are rocking this without guide; seeing guides is both reassuring and annoying
* #Train ticket for one hour ride is 10 Baht or 0.27€
* There is no train bridge. We will get out, see about catching a ferry, and board a different train
* End stop is going to be Mae Klong. So we will see the railway market fold up and spread again every time a train passes. For the first run, we see it from the train
