This is my new coding setup: An Arch (btw…) Distrobox on Fedora Silverblue running Zellij with a custom layout. Most of the space is used for helix. On the right I have bacon running clippy or check and a shell. It's bash for now, but I will probably switch to fish again in the future.
All this is launched, when I enter the alias `hxc`. I only need some project-picker now. Does anyone have a recommendation?
Running x64/x86 #Windows programs on 64-bit #ARM #Linux device with Wine64/Wine and #Box64 / #Box86: https://github.com/ptitSeb/box64/blob/main/docs/X64WINE.md
#Wine 10.0 inside a #Debian #Distrobox container, adapted from: https://wiki.postmarketos.org/wiki/Steam_in_box86
What I've managed to get working so far: 3D #Pinball and winemine (the Wine #Minesweeper #game).
I tried #StarCraft, without success

@ranfdev hey, look your app made it to the real front page of the internet! I use it everyday. Also nice work with DistroShelf, looks very good already.
Non ho mai avuto un rapporto idilliaco con le distribuzioni basate su RPM, eppure openSUSE ha del potenziale, specie nella sua variante MicroOS.
I've been using Fedora 42 KDE edition since it's gotten into beta on March 18 and it's a breeze! Rock solid, zero problems so far and amazing and up to date software.
Linux Kernel 6.14
KDE Plasma 6.3
MESA graphics library 25.0.3
fish shell version 4.0.1
Podman 5.4
Gimp 3.0
It's awesome to use and performance on both my primary machines (A Lenovo ThinkPad T480 and a Lenovo ThinkPad T14s gen4 AMD) is just perfect.
Will probably stay on 42 for ~1-2 months before things get overly boring and I update to Rawhide again
Also running a RHEL10 beta (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) container via Podman and Distrobox.
I think I broke my Distrobox container by starting it after a system update of the host but before rebooting.
It says this:
bash: .: /etc/profile.d/colorls.sh: cannot execute binary file
Said file is just carat and an at symbol repeated a bunch, and I can't update because the same thing happened to the Fedora repo files. Sudo reports:
"Sorry, try again.
Sorry, try again.
sudo: 3 incorrect password attempts"
There was also a thing that said overlays weren't supported on Btrfs?
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 Beta (RHEL10) running in Distrobox/Podman on a Fedora host-system.
When registering the host-system with subscription-manager, the guest becomes a real RHEL instead of a UBI, enabling all the package repositories.
I used to spend time updating individual Toolbox instances with apt or dnf. My new method is to nuke ALL OF THEM and the images that made them and start from scratch with new images on a fairly regular basis.
Still wondering if I shouldn't just layer Distrobox and make my life (comparatively) easier.
In case someone is struggling to install #davinciresolve on an "unsupported" #linux distribution, Michael Horn made a video about installing Resolve using #distrobox a while ago. I followed his excellent guide and adapted it for #manjaro on my #blog: https://amadeuspaulussen.com/blog/2025/install-davinci-resolve-on-manjaro-linux
My #GooglePixel phone is officially a workstation now
@fedora 42 in a #distrobox @Podman_io container on top of @debian 12
I have installed #davinciresolve in a #distrobox container on my computer and so far it is working fine.
The only thing I have not been able to resolve is that I get a super tiny mouse pointer despite the rest of the UI scaling correctly.
I have tried environment variables such as `QT_SCALE_FACTOR=2` but have had no luck.
I am using GNOME with Wayland on a 4k display.
Does anyone have any tips for me? Thanks in advance!

One thing I have from immutable (atomic) distros, and is how cumbersome is installing apps that require root permissions.
Supposedly you have to use Distrobox. Even that never worked for me. I always have to resort to `rpm-ostree` and then uninstall it so BootC can update the system. Every single time.
Anybody know where I can find an easy guide showing how to export #distrobox or #podman #containers from one #linux host machine to another?
. Amo los contenedores
, pero espero con paciencia a Debian 13

Hi! In case you missed, my #FOSDEM talk about creating a #rootless #container manager from scratch is available!
We'll talk about the basic principles to build your own container manager, using #lilipod as an example project:
Finally dipped my toes in #Distrobox and...
Damn is it a useful tool... I was struggling to make #DaVinci #Resolve work on my #Fedora 41 (funnly enough, on #Mint 22.1 it worked perfectly). But with Distrobox and the #davincibox image it was a breeze.
I get the #hype now

Distrowatch did an inception.
Blogs run with story meta bans Linux communities for reasons™.
Editors only use two posts by Distrowatch, from their own forums~ comments no less as source.
Anyway Comrades, fact check media before sharing eh?

One can use the Yafti/Portal on a first run, or anytime for GUI application assistance as well. Ujust commands are not the only way.
#Distrobox is really underrated!
Ironically the #GearLever #Flatpak makes using #appimage completely painless as well.
I have to learn how to use Podman/Quadlet stuffs.... It is a learning journey of rabbithole fun for me.
