The problem is: administrations, governments and parliaments do not want to change anything, certainly not to migrate anything. They are not only technophobic, they hate new technologies. Our public servants are traumatized by printers that don’t work or by poor Wi-Fi, so they just want to keep what they know. Our officials are putting European security and independence at risk just so they can continue to use Microsoft Outlook! That sounds idiotic, but that’s how I experience administrations.

Bert’s an old hand and I don’t agree with him on everything, but this is worth reading / translating from German if you want to understand a European *tech* perspective on regulation of the current tech world:

Opslag in de #cloud op servers van Amerikaanse bedrijven?

Ook ongeacht afspraken op papier. In mijn beleving is de enige manier die werkt een technische benadering, niet een van papier, convenanten etc. En ivm eventuele backdoors ook #FOSS.
