My project of remastering older recordings sees a second release some time soon. The song is called “Hold Me Tonight” and talks about the damage humans are doing to what surrounds them, and what that does to the individual.
Have an excerpt of a climactic bridge part with a rap done by myself and two guest vocals, plus a brief moment of the chorus with a grand guitar solo by a friend.
Here’s the lyrics:
“Man is out of tune, man is out of time, man is out of space, man is out of divine!
“Hold me tonight, I wonder where the birds are gone, I wonder if they died.
“Hold me tonight, I doubt the dolphins sing along, I guess we are alone.”
I am admittedly hardly a guitar player at all. Just slightly better at guitar than my cats. But I put all embarrassment aside to share this song with you that I hope you can play much better at protests, because we need music for the movement. #protest #democracy #prodemocracy #antifascism #antitrump #protestsong
Here's a nice tune for #SingerSongwriterSunday

Hope I’m not annoying you but I wanted to let anyone interested know that my new single “DOINITRITE” is now on Mirlo, too.
Hope you like it; drop me a line in any case, will you?
https://mirlo.space/babumenos/release/doinitrite-2025-remaster
It’s also still on Bandcamp, of course.

It’s #BandcampFriday *right now*! So, here’s my new single DOINITRITE (2025 Remaster) (all-caps deliberate…)

Note: While I mentioned earlier that I am closing my PayPal account, I haven’t got round to it yet. Should you feel generous and inclined to help out, your money would still reach me. You are very welcome, however, to get the track for free. In any case I would love to hear, or rather, read your feedback.
(Also, looks like no one has ever tagged their Bandcamp releases with #NoAI.)
Trump may have The Village People - YMCA as his theme song, but all of us have Twisted Sister - We're Not Gonna Take It

I declare this song to be the protest march leading us back from craziness to reality!
What say y'all?

Ah, the creatives are being creative in musical protest in the USA.

In case we #QueersForPalestine weren't clear enough to you, nobody's really free 'til everybody's free. Blue-party American nationalism is stained red with the blood of Palestinian martyrs.

I don't usually listen to rap but love Macklemore. Indie musicians can say what they want. The algorithm on other social media is hiding it.

Forget Lamar's corporate shilling. When it comes to revolution, Macklemore's the real deal.

Edit: Scheinbar doch schon ab 19:00, uppsi.
Heute um 20:00 ist übrigens der #ProtestsongContest auf #FM4! :)
This morning I felt moved to record an a cappella cover of a favorite folk song, "Tomorrow Is A Highway". Words by Lee Hays, music by Pete Seeger, from 1949.
MP3 available https://music.metafilter.com/9576/Tomorrow-Is-A-Highway . Lyrics there, and in video alt text.
More attempted music.
This is a song I wrote (not a cover, which is my usual thing) about eight years ago about a bunch of things we are doing in the US that are stupid.
It's as appropriate now as then -- or 24 years ago, or 44..
A looper pedal was used.
It's called "Reading Twitter at Work"

I'm interested in protest songs, particularly any that were made between 2016 - 2020, and any coming out now. Back in the 1960's, these types of songs actually got played on the radio, but now that would be impossible, so the best way to discover these songs is by sharing them.
I'll start with SJ Tucker, who has written several great protest songs over the years, this one always fills me with hope:
When there's so much despair in the world as evil grows and controls, don't forget we can still fight back, and we can fight back Jewishly.
