Got my #meshtastic node up on the roof in a temporary location for testing. It's not as high as I'd like, but the sewer vent pipe was the best non-invasive option I had available.
RAK Wisblock 19007 + RAK4631, Alfa AOA-915-5ACM 5 dbi antenna, 5000 mAh battery. This should survive a few weeks buried in the snow that Washington never gets.
Does your #meshtastic mesh have 60+ nodes, high traffic, or is an urban area? If so, you may have outgrown the default LongFast modem preset. Learn when and why to switch for better performance.

My home #meshtastic node’s now detected over 700 nodes. I announced 44 days ago that it had reached 600 nodes, and 85 days ago it reached 500. Linear growth, I guess, though some people have since switched to Meshcore, and some of these nodes are duplicates when the device owner reset the firmware.
I still don’t talk to anyone, because this is the PNW, but it’s nice to know that I could.
played around a bit with my heltec v3 #meshtastic thingy. Got nothing inside, but stepping out into the garden got me quite a few node contacts.
I think I need to set up a stationary node at the attic… would be cool if I could power it by solar so it's properly off-grid.
…but am I ready to invest even more into something I'm not sure I will even use?
Upgraded my Meshtastic stationary node antenna. Turns out the one I was using was not properly tuned for US 910-915 MHz. In spite of that, I still picked up over 100 nodes in my area. I'm wondering how many will see a hop reduction from my personal node thanks to this upgrade.
Cleaning up the wiring and checking antenna SWR with a NanoVNA.
Was curious if these cheap antennas were similar to their name brand look alikes. And no, no they are not comparable lol. Stick to the name brand I guess for this style of antennas, the cheaper ones are not worth it this time.

I made (and documented) a round pixelated display to carry around using 3Dprinting, #WLED and a stick. Its audio reactive, that means it listens to music and blinks accordingly to the beat: A festival totem (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Festival_totem)
There is also #meshtastic node inside to share your location
If you want to further enhance your copy, I suggest to read the excessive documentation here:

No idea what I'm doing but after putting my #meshtastic thingamy upstairs, I can now "see" nodes as far away as Bognor Regis, which seems neat.
While I had my #Meshtastic node on the workbench I thought I might as well hook it up to a CP/M board, so here's me sending and receiving using an SC126 designed for the #RC2014 ecosystem.

@finn If you want to try designing, scaling an existing “wrong frequency” example, or just have fun learning more, I can recommend AN-SOF free trial at https://antennasimulator.com/.
Need a WIN PC, but otherwise very easy to use, with many examples provided. I have a quick write up for my starter design at my qsl.net/n8dmt website. #HamRadio #meshtastic
Any suggestions for building a 868 MHz ground plane antenna? Many years ago I built a 1/4 lambda antenna for the 4 meter band.
Now for Meshtastic I have to go smaller which means probably I could make a 5/8 lambda antenna. I think this would provide more gain, right?
If anyone would like to share some information about this topic, I would really appreciate.
@seeedstudio opened preorders for their upcoming #loramesh solar node.

This seems to be a good affordable kit for people wanting to expand their mesh without the need of power plugs ;)
It is advertised as a #meshtastic equipment and it will work great on this network.
It will also be quickly supported in #meshcore as the xiao-nrf52 core that it embeds is already supported.
13. Instead of a LilyGo T-Deck I might have luck getting this "Smart watch" form factor that comes with LoRa built in to see if I can do some #meshtastic tinkering.
帶太陽能板的 Meshtastic Repeater
看到「Solar-powered WisMesh Repeaters extend the range of Meshtastic networks」這個,帶太陽能板的 Meshtastic repeater。 Meshtastic 底層用 LoRa 傳輸資料,維基百科的條目裡有提到,市區傳輸距離大約是 4.8km 左右,郊區則是 16km 左右: According to the LoRa Development Portal, the range provided by LoRa can be up to 3 miles (4.8 km) in urban areas, and up to 10 miles (16 km) or more in rural areas (line of…
Working on a meshcore testbed.
I want to have several radios on the roof so I can develop in production
Sending and receiving #Meshtastic messages on my Commodore 64!
Love it when a downloaded design prints well and fits! #meshtastic #3Dprinting
FINALLY! A little clear time and headspace to work on a few bits and bobs. Been putting together my #tdeck #meshtastic setup, but I still also have my #picocalc and a wonderful @rc2014 picasso kit to put together! Progress in the coming weeks!
