"The damage isn't theoretical. It's active. It's live. And it's reshaping the world. Trade routes are shifting. Investment is diversifying. Global power is rebalancing. China, Korea, and Japan are shaking hands. All of it is premised on a hard-earned truth: the United States cannot be trusted to lead. Not because of one man but because of what half the country has chosen to normalize. Not because of Trump alone but because every institution built to restrain him failed and then got in line."

Every so often I check to see if CSS anchor positioning is ready. Almost there in Safari/Firefox.
Popover API already makes things so much cleaner, so hopeful all the anchor implementations ship in a stable shape. Chrome's seems to work pretty great from testing my use cases with various menus.
Updating legacy code this weekend to match the spec 1:1 so the JS can be dropped after release.

There it is! Finally, a real solution for how to style all of the HTML form controls using your own custom CSS to change anything — building on an interoperable UA set of defaults. It only took 30 years!
First will be the chance to style the “in-page” controls (the part embedded in the webpage), plus the popover for <select> (the part that appears “over top of” the page). Later we’ll do popovers for more things — like the date picker, etc.

And yet that’s exactly how social media and networks work.
It’s ridiculous.
