In a mess of various light brown twigs going in all different directions, and against a background of blurred green foliage, a long clump of bluish-green tendrils of lichen lays diagonally across the center, almost like a horse tail in appearance.
There are other smaller clumps and hairs of the lichen all over the twigs.

Monochrome photo of a patch of a large tree's trunk, the left-hand side is dark and rumpled looking, the right is mostly lighter and smoother, interrupted by partial stripes of darker rougher bark. Strange markings in the beach sand.

A section of almost dry beach sand, obviously moved by recent water, which created flows and patterns in oval and stream-like shapes.
There are a few different distinct colors swirled around and mixed in right next to each other: a light tan, a light brown, an odd slate blue, and medium brown-to-darker-tan shades at one side.

A close-up photograph shows a corner where two dry-stone walls meet, revealing the construction details and the natural variations in the stone. The walls are built from thin, irregular pieces of slate or similar layered rock, stacked horizontally without mortar. The stones exhibit a range of colours, including greys, browns, and hints of rust, creating a textured and aged appearance.
At the corner, a large, roughly triangular section of a different type of rock is visible, embedded within the wall. This rock has distinct diagonal striations of dark grey and lighter, almost golden-brown hues. It appears to be a more solid, less layered type of stone compared to the surrounding wall material.
Small patches of greenery, including moss and tiny plants, are growing in the crevices between the stones, particularly near the top and bottom of the frame, indicating the age and weathering of the structure. The ground at the base of the walls is covered with loose stones and sparse vegetation.

A different kind of #monochrome for #MonochromeMonday: A #golden ceiling inside the #Leifeng #Pagoda in #Hangzhou (#China). The original pagoda was built in 975 AD for the emperor's favourite concubine. It was burned down a few centuries later and finally collapsed in 1924. The new, reconstructed pagoda opened in 2002 with lifts, air conditioning, and more.
