Getting caught up on stuff I fell behind on while teaching that extra #AdultESOL class January to March.

For example, finally finished a script for #Google Sheets that will create Forms in the given languages automagically. Easiest way I know of to get multilingual Forms.

Next, a Sheets script to create Forms and email to editors and respondents.

Then, I'll create the diplomas in #Scribus. Use #ScribusGenerator (github.com/berteh/ScribusGener) to "mail merge" them.

Standard interchange image format for Open Source DTP

Hi people,

with all the mayor GUI #DTP software reaching their peak: #GIMP, #Scribus and #Inkscape; and the well established #TeX software #ConTeXt and #SpeedataPublisher, and #ImageMagick we need a serious discussion about which image format we should adopt that works seamlessly across all these applications and it is generally accepted in the press workflow, whereas is embedded or not into a PDF file.

It should be something that has good quality, supports #CMYK and Alpha channels and it is #opensource friendly and perhaps an #openstandard.

I would dare to say that perhaps jpeg2000 matches most of them, it exists from a very long time and can be adopted as common ground, however it is need a combined effort, if what I am writing makes sense for you.

ImageMagick supports it, Gimp 3 currently doesn't, #LuaTeX and #LuaMetaTeX neither. I guess that Inkscape once it will be able to export in CMYK it will decide which format using to store images in CMYK with alpha into a PDF.

It would be very beneficial if we can adopt a format that works everywhere and it is press friendly, thanks.

@bammerlaan Thanks for reading. Last night, I discovered, by accident, that the palettes can be docked to the side of the app window! lol. That will make it much tidier and a bit easier to manage. I continue to be impressed by the app and can easily see it being the app I use. So glad I stuck with it. Really looking forward to the dark mode coming with the next version.

Une autre opportunité s'ouvre à nous également avec l'abandon de Publisher par M$. Celle de passer sur #LibreOffice draw ou #scribus, qui peuvent ouvrir des fichiers .pub .
Beaucoup de collègues encore dépendants de ce logiciel propriétaire.

Scribus 1.7 Devel

Yesterday I was playing with #Scribus 1.7 appimage version for #GNU/Linux and I found a lot of improvement in the UI. These improvements really help to make the workflow more fluid, they mitigates a lot the weaknesses of this software.

Usually working with Scribus is not pleasant but with version 1.7 the general experience is nicer than with 1.6 version.

A bookbinding weekend project! :)
This time a compact planner, recycling pages from an old #zelda calendar.

The #planner is a 2 sections 3 hole binding.

The #endpaper used was an experiment i did last summer trying to make #marbledpaper (although the experiment didn´t went very well)

Coucou le fedi, j'ai fait un jeu de carte !! Je le trouve stylax alors je partage :^)

Tout est réalisé avec des logiciels #opensource et imprimé en Alsace par les sympathiques Printeurope !

Le jeu original s'appelle "Gang of Four", créé par Lee F. Yih. J'ai redessiné toutes les cartes dans mon style dans le but de l'offrir à ma famille et mes amis (bon, ça devait être pour Noël à la base mais j'ai pris un peu de retard...)

7 cartes et une boîte posées à plat sur une table. Les cartes sont présentées en éventail. De droite à gauche, les cartes sont le 1 multicolore, le 3 vert, le 6 jaune, le 9 rouge, le phénix vert, le phénix jaune et le dragon rouge. Le nom de chaque carte est indiqué à la fois en chiffres arabes et en caractères chinois de la couleur de la carte. Le dragon rouge est également représenté sur la boîte.
La boîte du jeu. On y voit dessiné un dragon chinois dans un style bande dessinée. Son long corps s'enroule autour des différentes faces de la boîte. Sur le dessus de la boîte, le mot « Gang » est écrit en rouge.
