No one - and I mean ABSOLUTELY no one - knows *everything there is to know about dance or pole dancing*. Learning new things is important and tbh I really don’t trust any poler - no matter how long they’ve been dancing for or how advanced they are - that isn’t continually learning and trying new things. That’s red flag city! In addition, fuck ups are important. Screw ups and mistakes are valid reflections of our learning. POST THEM! Everyone makes mistakes; if you don’t, you aren’t truly learning! You cannot compare your pole journey to anyone else’s. Some dancers have years of ballet, gymnastics, or martial arts behind them or maybe even made a career/college major out of movement—but that doesn’t make your progress any less valid.

When I started, I couldn’t even tilt my body for a cradle. Now look at me! I used to compare myself to lifelong athletes when I hadn’t done anything active since I was 17 and I entered pole at 26. But I kept going, and so will you.

Be kind to yourself. Keep growing. Your journey is yours.
