At the range again this morning helping train a new group of students. Thought I'd share another photo from the lounge at the Massachusetts Rifle Association association. Ms. Dorothy Knight, 1943 revolver champion.

She's facing the photographer with a broad smile. Her right arm is that her side bent at the elbow so her hand is pointing straight up. In her hand is the revolver she presumably used to win the competition. Her right hand is comfortably in her left pocket. She's smartly dressed in 1940s white pants and dark blouse with a light handkerchief in the left pocket.

I'm at the range this morning. This year is the 150th anniversary of the Massachusetts Rifle Association. The photos in the lounge are an interesting look back in time over that period.

There are four men in the photo which looks to be taken in a parlor or photo studio. They are all nattily dressed in overcoats, ties and formal shoes. Into their coats are various ribbons and medals from shooting competitions.

They are all sporting tremendous mustaches

Summer seated some are standing most are holding rifles. On the table sits the trophy.

They are from left to right James P. Frost, Sam Merrill, Allen Kelly, Charles E. Orr and E. F. Sterns

The one on the right seems to have been “conscripted” (zwangsverpflichtet), though it is unclear on what basis. She was also apparently highly skilled insofar as she was a production manager of some kind.
