Hamilton clergy in Rome mourn death of Pope Francis and say 'we must carry forward' his legacy
As thousands gather in St. Peter’s Square in Vatican City on Saturday morning to bid farewell to Pope Francis, churches across Hamilton are holding masses and memorials to mark the passing of the spiritual leader whose papacy left a profound impression on local Catholics.

A shoulder many want to be side by side,
- grinning, just for a moment followed with millions tickling likes.
A hand many want to kiss,
- gleeful, just for a moment like enclosed with glory light.
A face many want to see,
- infatuated, just for a moment like tomorrow will never arrived.
Deaf are just those ears, no words have been allowed in the mind.
At last, can rest in peace.

- A pristine puddle in the swamp of folly.

🧵(1/3) For a time now, the idea of telling the story of my relationship to my grandfather has been bouncing around in my head. Only recently did I realize that knowing his house across the street, which was a constant for my whole life, was no longer a part of my life, and seeing his empty studio, its bare windows looking like the empty sockets of a ghost, is what has kept part of my mind in perpetual mourning mode.

Another hard thing…

...and I really hate needing to do it... Trigger warning ⚠️ this post will discuss the passing of a beloved pet and what to do after that. It was very hard go write, so I recon it may be hard to read as well... As I write this, Arwen is walking in front of me, sniffing as she goes, relaxing and enjoying the walkies. We're going a bit slower, she needs a rest every now and then, but she wags her tail, she comes for hugs... She's showing me she's having a good time. As I write this, I start crying and find out that I forgot my tissues.... Ah well... Sobbing mess it is... […]

Many people who've lost a loved one talk to them in their heads or out loud. Wind phones are a way of channeling that — often old-fashioned rotary telephones, installed in public spaces, where you can say all the things you want to say to the people you're grieving. Here's a story from Fodor's Travel explaining the idea's origins in Japan, and how it's become a worldwide movement. “Most of them are at beautiful places where they’re quiet, private, and in nature, which I think is important," says Amy Dawson, whose daughter died in 2020. "It allows us to surrender to our grief and express what we need to express.”

I linger before the stone angel, whose bowed figure touches my soul. His sorrow becomes tangible in the cold stone. My fingers wish to stroke the curved wings, offering comfort where none seems possible. In his timeless grief, I find a strange peace. He watches over the past, while I merely pause on my journey to preserve his silent story.
