25 years ago tonight I was on call in case the #MillenniumBug caused a meltdown. It didn't, but the extra money came in handy. To be fair, we'd been working on #Y2K for months beforehand.

Nowadays, my technical advice would extend to "Have you tried turning it off and turning it back on again?" but I'd be quite good at keeping the tea, coffee, fizzy drinks and pizza supplied.

Grappig, dat item over de #millenniumbug bij #ovtradio1. Wij waren allemaal standby, maar dan vanaf 12 uur 's middags op 31 december (we keken naar Nieuw-Zeeland). Wat me bijstaat is, dat wij al maanden daarvoor testten op het productielike testplatform. De problemen ontstonden alleen maar omdat we een keer de systeemtijd maanden vooruit zetten, en daarna het platform alle dienst weigerde: het OS constateerde een onwaarschijnlijke tijdsprong. Het kostte dagen om alles weer te laten werken.
