You can tell when you're ready to explore MAXMSP when you want to adjust the Repeat rate on a device to play for 3 bars then the 4th either raises the rate randomly or does a specific little jiggle for a varied but less random gesture. Finally got around to making a nice thick chorus in Max/MSP (instead of just copying the single-delay one from the documentation). It's based on the Sony DPS-M7 Deca chorus and has 5 taps per channel, with complex panning of them on the output:

Darker/less-noisy sounds are triggering the lower “kick”-sounding voice, and brighter/noiser sounds are triggering the brighter “snare”-sounding voice.
Then my loudness and brightness (via spectral centroid) are controlling the CV inputs on the Clicker, changing the “pitch” and overall duration of the impulses heard.
(obviously there are a bunch of other choices - mostly javascript-y - and I do know javascript too but it's not my tool of choice for this stuff I don't think)
