OK so, downloading the El Capitan installer on FireFox on Linux from Apple.com took about 30 minutes and downloading a 6GB InstallMacOSX.dmg file with the following SHA256 Sum:

PPC/OS X users: has anyone come across successful builds of *recent* love2d (sdl2) binaries for PPC?

i'm fascinated by the possibility that exigy could be backported to the iMac G4/G5 and OS X 10.4 if i could just figure out a good way of distributing binaries.

Man, these videos are really scary. I got 1 Macintosh Plus and 2 Macintosh SEs in working condition, and I definitely don't have the skill to fix them if they ever break, which seems to happen sooner or later.

In fact, when I got my Macintosh SE's the HDDs were still working, but both died now.

I spent a good part of my afternoon just *using* this beautiful device, running Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger). There is not much you can do with these anymore except write — but write you can.

I am in awe of the level of attention to detail and how carefully designed it was. And how fast this thing is on a shitty Intel Core 2 Duo with 2Gb RAM.

This is what they took from us… I wish you could use devices like this for real today.

Wait—was I just supposed to not bid when I saw an Apple ImageWriter I at auction? In my defense, it’s not my fault no one else bid higher. Now I’ve got both Apple ImageWriter I and II… and absolutely zero time to play with them.

Argh’ness. I’ve repaired quite a few power supplies, new and vintage, and I still have PTSD from the one where the fuse (so designed) popped. Something about that cracking sound. I need #ADVICE from people smarter than me about backup drives for my MacBook Pro (Chip Apple M1, MacOs Sequoia 15.4) My ancient WD external hard drive is completely full and won't take any more of my files.

I bought a Samsung SSD T9 and it won't recognize Time Machine, so I'm returning it. (I spent way too much time trying to figure it out.)

What backup drive do you recommend that is compatible with Time Machine and will just plug-and-play like the good ol' days?

I am very disappointed to discover I cannot use the "Multimedia Extras" on the second hand #CD I bought, even though my computer is clearly "#Macintosh System OS8 or later, has 32MB of available RAM, with QuickTime 3 or later installed", plus I have the pre-requisite soundcard and CD drive.

Who do I complain to about this?!

These turned up cheap on AU eBay and I had recently been using the 'Text' book online while writing my font suitcase parser. That was the only one I was looking for, but couldn't pass up acquiring the whole set. The seller was the original buyer in the 90s.

Reading rumors that Apple is planning a significant resdesign for the 20th anniversary iPhone.

All I'm saying is that they already have a high bar set for 20th anniversary product designs.
