Been looking at some of the latest Kobold Press publications (Tales of the Valiant), and it's insane how much better their content is compared to anything WotC has published in the last 4 years.

To me, Darrington Press, Ghostfire Gaming, Kobold Press and MCDM have essentially become the new benchmark for high-quality 5e content.

A really great video going into why D&D 5.5e failed, why Sigil VTT was doomed from the start, how WotC lost the goodwill and support of their community, and how they managed to kill their "golden goose" by taking something consistently great, and tried to contort it into a system of exploitation.

DM advice: A good approach to larger combats is to have enemy groups (all creatures with the same stat block) share a HP pool.

I.e. When you have 8 goblins, with 20 HP each, you instead use a collective pool with 160 HP. Every each time that pool is reduced by 20 HP, the goblin who took the damage, when that threshold was crossed, dies.

It's also useful if you have a lot of conjured / reanimated creatures to deal with.

I got to use my cult generator today in my 3.0e #DnD campaign. My mage was researching some symbols they found in the mega-dungeon, and it turned out to be an old cult who were sacrificing the faithful to summon an ancient evil from the Shadow Plane. #DungeonsAndDragons #TTRPG
