Today was my first race of this season and I'm already questioning my participation in next race.

First 40 minutes or so we were going through tree roots. Lots of them. Then there was sand and more sand and sand with roots and even more sand or really hard uneven paths with holes. We finally reached some gravel roads after 50km... Some of them were sandy. Ration of rough mtb-ish terrain to gravel one was... High. I do enjoy "features for connoisseurs", but this was too much. I mentally tired in the second half and in the last 10-20km I couldn't ride steep uphill.

I'm reading now comments of people saying how great and interesting the route was and maybe I just suck and should loose more more weight. Uh.

This morning I got up a little depressed by all the stupid news coming from the human world...
Even though I didn't have so much time I realy felt like I had to go out for a ride.
Went into the forest to immerse myself in the trees and listen to them whispering their wisdom in my ears.
A short time but a very good one!
Enjoy trees! They are just great!!

Fryday's ride
Went to the east this morning.
First kilometers through the fields and up to the vineyards of Montlouis then to those of Vouvray on the other side of the Loire.
By the way Champagne is good and very well know all around the world but to my opinion the wine from Vouvray is just better 😃
Then back home along the water.
A little more than 40k with a chill wind from the north.

My friend Kate has raced (bikes) exactly twice, winning on both occasions -by minutes- from early solo breakaways. On the second, she was upgraded on the spot from Cat 5 to 3 by an official. This weekend she's entering a 3-day stage race, the Tour of the Gila (racing Cat 1-2-3). I captured this pic of her bike today, leaning against a fence next to the bleached bones of some poor creature that met its fate on this road. I choose to see this as foreshadowing. 🙃
