Just spent far too long on #CrackingTheCryptic May Patreon challenge grid 3. I couldn’t disambiguate it at all. I ended up clearing it and restarting, and I seemed to somehow not make the same mistake the second time around. Still took me 55 minutes though. But I do like this “Oil and Water” #Sudoku variant

One of the aspects I like about those #Sudoku solving videos with esoteric rules and few or no given digits is seeing where symmetry breaks. The setters often are drawn towards rotationally or laterally symmetric designs, or even something like German Whispers where high and low are interchangeable (so its value-symmetric, I suppose). But for a puzzle to uniquely solve, that has to break somewhere. I enjoy trying to spot it. #Puzzles

Matt Parker learns some sudoku solving techniques for a problem he was not convinced was human solvable. He wrote a python program to brute force the solution. But Simon and Mark solved it in about an hour.
Matt had already figured out which of the actors in the puzzle were the liars, so that jumpstarted the solve.
