Do you engage offline with other creatives? What did you/would you do if social media didn't exist?

I don't engage with other creatives offline. Not anymore.

There were some NaNo meetings several years ago, but I always felt like I didn't belong. For a while, I ran an author group, when that folded, I joined one, which also folded.

Instead, I've met my tribe online - mostly Autistic authors. If social media did not exist, I'd be very, very lonely.

#WritingCommunity

I have no idea what to expect but I am sure it will be a big adventure!
I enjoy gushing about my characters (which you probably don't know, but, just in case...) and "what if" scenarios. I chose to ignore personal questions if they make me uncomfortable. Which doesn't mean you can't ask them, anyway, just that you shouldn't take it personal if I ignore them.

See you tomorrow!🐺

Oh, what do I make, you ask? We've got a dynasty going if I can ever get known 😅

I used to be on FB & Twitter, & am now on BS, but this is the first & only place where I felt part of a creative community. There was no social media for most of my life. Without it, I suppose I'd be a lone creator as usual.

Do you engage offline with other creatives? What did you/would you do if social media didn't exist?

Somewhat, yes. I have a weekly in-person writing group (for now), so that gives me some IRL interaction. It's nice.

If there was no social media? What did I do before? Read more (although I'm rebuilding that habit). Spent more time with friends. Watched more TV (yeah, exchanged one screen for another). I'd probably write a little more.
Overall it might be a good thing.

Do you engage offline with other creatives? What did you/would you do if social media didn't exist?

I'm just back from Eastercon where I have been hobnobbing with a large number of other writers and creators (nitpick: "creative" is an adjective, not a noun, and I am a pedant).

If social media didn't exist, I would get a lot more writing done, but would sell a good deal less of it.

Do you engage offline with other creatives? What did you/would you do if social media didn't exist?

I stumble upon creatives everywhere. Not really an offline person, at least not for mingling with other folk but whenever I am forced to do because of conferences or other stuff I find myself drawn to people who happen to either write, paint, or do music. It is like they are emitting "good folk" vibes. That, or creatives in general are drawn to the same places and exhibit the same behavior.

I grew up when social media and even the internet DIDN'T exist. I'll be fine. I never would have gotten to know some of the best people, though. :11111:

Walter Thinman
26. Do you engage offline with other creatives? What did you/would you do if social media didn't exist?
Social media has given me a way to engage with people I never would have otherwise. I have friends and family who are creative, but I've never managed to be a part of anything offline that matches the community I've found online. I suppose if social media ceased to exist, I might be able to take some of what I've learned into the offline world, but it wouldn't be the same.
#ScribesAndMakers

What did you/would you do if social media didn't exist?

Aside from my gf...no? I'm not really interested in doing so, either. Socializing offline is draining and 10x as awkward.

I'd live w/o social media, tho I assume we'd still have forums? And blogs. If not, I'd just keep to myself and write in even more obscurity. I lived a very solitary life before social media and my early foray onto the internet.
