Today at the #RepairCafe we fixed this toniebox. It did not make any sounds after startup and the status-led showed red.

The visible damage was that one diode ran out of its magic smoke.
I suspect that its a TVS diode.

The normal diagnostics for a toniebox is that it uses audio samples of animals so kids don't get confused. Then you look up 'elephant' in the manual and it tells you the actual error.

In this case however, we did not get any audio at all.

A 3.5mm audio jack on a green circuit board. The Diode D2 is missing.

Repair Cafe Barry

We were honoured to be able to fix this 60 year old anniversary clock for one of our attendees. Kevin worked very hard to restore it to its former glory & the gentleman it belonged to was very happy to have it back in working order.

It's moments like this that keep us so passionate about what we do - being able to extend the life of an item with so many meaningful memories is a real honour.

We're back at Barry Library on Saturday 3rd of May from 10am til 1pm.

What other ways do you use to keep in touch with the Maker or creative community?

A3: I think mostly here, but also I am in a WhatsApp (yeah, I know) group for Repair Cafe folks in Greater Manchester we share chat, and knowledge that helps with the #RepairCafe stuff that comes up.

I am also still with the #WorkingInWood community woodwork group that I helped set up way back in 2017, and we meet up on Thursday mornings at the Community Workshop.
Then there is the Miniatures group that meets up in the evening on the second Monday of the month.

Ein KNX-Dimmaktor (Weinzierl IO 530) wurde durch einen versehentlichen Kurzschluss, trotz ausgelöstem LS, beschädigt.

Unabhängig von der Dimmart, dem Schaltzustand oder vom Dimmwert messe ich am Ausgang ca. 110V, und eine testweise angeschlossene Glühlampe 60W flackerte sichtbar.

Die Platine ist recht übersichtlich und die Bauteile klar erkennbar. Könnte man da mit vertretbarem Aufwand etwas retten? Wie würde man vorgehen?
