Martinus HoevenaarPreparing an Arch iso for going back to Linux. Way too many set backs and inconveniences: slow reading of ext4, no Bluetooth, wonky Samba, Gimp 2.10 while 3.0 is out and better, certain plugins for sound editing could not be installed. It was way too much and the experiment compromised my workflow too much. So, I like BSD a lot, but it is not meant for me. For now, that is. Martinus HoevenaarFor one month my PC will be running GhostBSD to see if it works in a creative environment. Sound processing, graphic design and some video editing. There was one thing really bugging me: why in the world is it so hard to have recent bluetooth drivers in the kernel and also: why is it nearly impossible to set it up? My headphones are Bluetooth 5 and it's not supported. mudalaThat was fun and satisfying BSD Sunday.I fixed a Lenovo T520 and setup <a href="https://mastodon.bsd.cafe/tags/GhostBSD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#GhostBSD</a> for a friend, so he can start right out of the Box ...and of course get's the BSD Virus §8-)Everything works nicely like it should. Sound had to be configured, because the volume was too silent.Found the solution@ <a href="https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/audio-volume-is-too-low.92830/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank">https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/audio-volume-is-too-low.92830/</a>So, mixer pcm=1.0 did the trick on my side too.Besides that, it just runs wonderful smooth with a old 256GB SSD and 8GB of RAM. This Notebook is so old and it runs superb! Once more I thought about how ressources are wasted these days.Made another friend happy to tinker with the FreeBSD world.
