StrypeyYesterday I swapped out all the Simple Mobile Tools apps I've been using for the Fossify forks. It was surprisingly painless. <a href="https://mastodon.nzoss.nz/tags/HatTip" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#HatTip</a> to the folks maintaining these.The original Free Code versions of the apps were built with export/ import tools, for both data and settings in some cases. Obviously the Fossify versions have that too, and it worked seamlessly. I've still got the Simple APS installed in case of any gotchas, but if none crop up I'll delete them in a week or so.<a href="https://mastodon.nzoss.nz/tags/Fossify" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Fossify</a>

Bisschen schade, dass das bei CalyxOS nicht angezeigt wird. Mal gucken, wie gut sich die Fossify App schlägt, laut GitHub Seite soll es ja noch einige Bugs geben. Hoffe nicht, dass die bei mir in Erscheinung treten. Moin. Wer von euch hat denn CalyxOS Android und kann mir sagen, wie ich die Info für die Anruferliste von relativer Zeitangabe (also z. B. vor 3 Stunden) auf absolute Zeitangabe (also z. B. 6:39 Uhr) umstellen kann? Mich macht das ganz kirre, wenn ich sehe, dass ich einen Anruf verpasst habe, aber nicht die Uhrzeit sehen kann. Wo kann ich das einstellen? Ich hab schon einiges abgesucht, finde aber nix. 😳

Apper som bare gjorde det de skulle, ingen unødvendige tillatelser, ingen innsamling av data, ingen reklame. Så ble selskapet solgt til et reklamebyrå.Heldigvis var de laget på åpen kildekode, så Fossify forket dem og har brakt dem tilbake. Jeg bruker Contacts, SMS, Phone, File Explorer, Gallery og Notes. DavidEN - I found Fossify, a open sourse software company that has apps like: messages, calls, calendar, keyboard, file management, gallery and even a launcher! Charlotte AtenI was a bit slow on this one, but I finally disabled Google Maps on my phone! I've been using Organic Maps (<a href="https://organicmaps.app/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank">https://organicmaps.app/</a>) for a little while now and I've had a great experience. I just have two issues:1) Unless I download Organic Maps from the Google Play Store, I can't use it with Android Auto when I'm in a car. I want to disconnect from Google, so this is not ideal. 2) It seems like <a href="https://fosstodon.org/@organicmaps" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@organicmaps</a> is the official Mastodon account, but they don't have their website verified.It only took a few minutes to copy the places I had saved on Google Maps into a note in <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/Fossify" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Fossify</a> Notes (<a href="https://www.fossify.org/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank">https://www.fossify.org/</a>). I have to force stop the launcher app to get it working again (which is tricky because I can't use the launcher to do it).Doesn't happen with the stock Pixel Launcher, only third-party launchers.Anybody got any ideas how to fix this?

Again, having never saved passwords or preserved sessions, cookies, etc. made this so easy. I also had already started keeping my bookmarks in a text file on <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/Fossify" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Fossify</a> Notes (<a href="https://www.fossify.org/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank">https://www.fossify.org/</a> or available on <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/FDroid" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#FDroid</a>), so those were no issue either. It's crazy how few note applications for Android allow you to just write notes as plain text files that you can copy to a computer.I did notice that F-Droid warns the upstream code is not entirely free, and I don't know the specific details of that, but almost anything is better than letting <a href="https://mathstodon.xyz/tags/Mozilla" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Mozilla</a> sell my data.
