Arnaud Mangasaryan<p>Le fameux "blue screen of death" (que je vois souvent dans les aéroports aux US) va disparaître et être remplacé par un écran noir plus sobre.</p><p>Plus discret, plus classe, mais au final, ça reste le même problème derrière xD</p><p><a href="https://www.vice.com/en/article/microsoft-is-killing-windows-blue-screen-of-death/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">vice.com/en/article/microsoft-</span><span class="invisible">is-killing-windows-blue-screen-of-death/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://framapiaf.org/tags/windows" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>windows</span></a> <a href="https://framapiaf.org/tags/bluescreen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bluescreen</span></a> <a href="https://framapiaf.org/tags/ecranbleu" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ecranbleu</span></a> <a href="https://framapiaf.org/tags/bluescreenofdeath" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bluescreenofdeath</span></a></p>
Yann'rel reviendra !<p><a href="https://mamot.fr/tags/Help" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Help</span></a> <a href="https://mamot.fr/tags/MaydayBonjour" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MaydayBonjour</span></a> à tous, j'ai encore besoin d'aide, j'ai commencé à regarder par moi-même.
C.<p>🤣 at Microsoft today...</p><p>Replacing the Blue Screen of Death with a new Black Screen of Death, which now no longer contains *any* information about the problem that caused the system to crash and need to restart.</p><p>For the average user, it's now impossible to have even a hint as to what the problem is. Great job, everybody!</p><p>For power users, geez, I hope something made it into the event logs and onto disk before the system died. No? Oh well, you didn't really need to know, just reset and wonder how long you've got until it happens again.</p><p>EDIT / UPDATE: I've now seen a second article about this change. The first didn't include an image, and described the removal of all information related to the specific error. This second one shows a copy, and it still appears to include the filename containing the code that crashed the kernel and whatever Windows calls an errno value. It appears the first article is mistaken, and they've just removed the QR code that has been present for a few years?</p><p><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/BSOD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BSOD</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/BlueScreenOfDeath" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BlueScreenOfDeath</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/BlackScreenOfDeath" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BlackScreenOfDeath</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Microsoft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Microsoft</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/Windows" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Windows</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/crash" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>crash</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/restart" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>restart</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/computer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>computer</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/EverythingIsTerrible" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>EverythingIsTerrible</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/debug" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>debug</span></a></p>
Andreu Casablanca 🐀<p>I have a relatively new <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/ASUS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ASUS</span></a> ProArt13 laptop where I still have a <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Microsoft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Microsoft</span></a> <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Windows" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Windows</span></a> installation so I can keep upgrading its firmware (I planned removing it once I have a stable <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Linux</span></a> distro with kernel &gt;= 6.14).</p><p>I'm surprised by how unstable it is. Just leaving it doing nothing for more than 10 minutes is enough to trigger a <a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/BlueScreenOfDeath" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BlueScreenOfDeath</span></a> (I can reproduce the issue). If I keep doing stuff, it does not crash.</p><p>At this point I'm not sure if it's Microsoft's fault or ASUS'... but I suspect the blame falls on Windows side (nothing like that happens on my Linux installation).</p><p><a href="https://hachyderm.io/tags/Windows11" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Windows11</span></a></p>
