We don’t know yet if the #ants are just cleaning the wound and removing debris, to prevent infection, or applying #antimicrobial substances with their saliva

Although #primates are known to tend to their own wounds, this is the first time an animal gives medical care to others

Permafrost Thaw 🧊🔬

The thawing of #permafrost is associated with the release of several significant components, including:

• Ancient #microorganisms that may harbour #antimicrobial resistance (AMR) genes

• Accumulated pollutants and #HeavyMetals

#Methane, which plays a role in accelerating #ClimateChange

• Newly created #ecological niches that may support #pathogens

Molecular de-extinction uses to revive peptides from extinct organisms.

A study analyzed 10 million peptides, identifying 37,000 with potential antimicrobial activity. 69 were synthesized and tested, confirming efficacy against bacterial pathogens. This technique could accelerate discovery of new therapeutic molecules against antibiotic resistance.
