Not a great morning as woke up to very disappointing news about a paper, that I'll now have to submit to another publisher. Considering a) the extra work involved and b) many publishers now give all their content to AI companies, this thought does not fill me with enthusiasm. Another nail in the coffin of my academic life I think.

Deadline was closing on Mach 25, 2025. With more than 100 applications the admittance decision process for the 60 accepted students will be hard. We'll keep you posted. Notifications will be out soon!

En 2025, il est toujours aussi répandu et habituel d'attendre des mois sa rémunération quand on est vacataire dans une université française.

Plusieurs années après la circulaire de 2017 et la Loi de programmation sur la recherche de 2020 prévoyant le versement mensuel de la rémunération des vacations, il est scandaleux et honteux que cette situation soit toujours aussi répandue.

Avant mon départ au Canada, j'avais goûté à ces difficultés - une des raisons ayant pesé dans la balance au moment de choisir l'expatriation.

- I tried something new in my lecture at the last minute and it actually worked really well!
- I enjoyed being the guest speaker at the Inclusive UC Challenge event launch (a Uni of Canterbury social challenge for students - this year they are tasked with designing an inclusive event, which is what I’m passionate about)
- I had a nice but slow walk home in the last of the sunny warmth after a big day!

Every year I spend some time teaching (particle physics experiment course for Oxford dphil students).

That also gives opportunities for giving seminars/colloquia and of course catching up with colleagues. I enjoy my time in the UK, after all I spent a fraction of my career there. #academiclife

Honoured to receive the award as a productive researcher at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University. Huge thanks to the team for creating an atmosphere where research is a matter of honour, not infrastructure. Like in many places in #Ukraine, everything runs on people, not resources.
